A study by Forest Development Trust (FDT) has shown that Tanzania can benefit very if forestry resources available in the Region can be addressed. An expert from FDT Mr. William Mato has noted that Tanzania makes use of only 35% of the tree biomass while in other countries they make use of 100% % of the harvested biomass.
Another expert from FDT Mr Yuda Mkollo further noted that there is a big investment opportunity in supply of quality tree seeds, farm management services, technologies for wood processing and production of engineered wood products.
An investor from China with Hongwei International Limited encouraged local entrepreneurs to invest in value addition because there is a huge market for many high value wood products in the country, in the region and in international markets.
